Carrollton-based Aventiv Technologies axing 272 jobs

Aventiv Technologies, a tech company based in Carrollton, plans to layoff 272 employees according to a WARN notification filed with the State.
The tech company will lay off all employees at its 4000 International Parkway facility located in Carrollton, as well as those that work virtually anywhere across the nation.
Aventiv Technologies was represented by the Dallas-based Bell Nunnally & Martin LLP law firm, which submitted the notice to Texas Workforce Commission.
Aventiv told the Dallas Business Journal that the job cuts were due to a strategic change in the company's operations. The company provides technology and telecom options to correctional institutions.
In a prepared press release, a spokesperson for the company said, 'Our strategy is changing from one which was labor-intensive through the mass deployments of tablets to a more balanced approach that provides a richer experience for customers and consumers by using third-party apps on our technology platform.' This has resulted in a reduction of our staffing requirements. Our headquarters are in Dallas but the majority of our staff is virtual. This action affected 74 North Texas residents.
Bell Nunnally & Martin stated in the notice that the affected employees would not have any bumping rights. This means they won't be able displace junior staff from their position as a result the layoff.
Aventiv has stated that the affected employees will be offered new job opportunities at Aventiv.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the company said that impacted employees across the country received a 60-day notification in March. They were given the opportunity to apply for new positions in the organization or to be eligible for severance.
Aventiv will lay off workers on May 12th.
