Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO, Mike Jeffries, along with two associates, has been arrested on charges related to sex trafficking. The indictment alleges that from December 2008 to March 2015, Jeffries and his associates operated an international sex trafficking scheme. The defendants recruited men with model aspirations and allegedly engaged in sex-themed parties, where prospective models were given drugs, alcohol, and Viagra to perform sex acts.
The other defendants named are Matthew Smith and James Jacobson. Smith, Jeffries' romantic partner, and Jacobson, who reportedly recruited and hired men for the scheme, traveled with dozens of men across the U.S. and internationally to locations like the Hamptons, New York City, England, and other countries for these activities.
Jacobson's role involved interviewing candidates for these 'sex parties,' requiring them to engage in initial sex acts. During these events, men were allegedly injected with drugs. Victims, some as young as 19 and with ties to Abercrombie, hoped for modeling opportunities.
Jeffries, once a transformative figure for the brand, resigned in 2014. All three arrested are expected to appear in federal court shortly.
