Apple has a history of creating products that weren't the first in their category, but redefined the market. Apple has unveiled a headset that features virtual and augmented-reality technology, which is already present in other devices. Here's a look at some of its other groundbreaking products.

The Macintosh Computer, Unveiled in January 1984

Hailed by

A now famous TV commercial

The Macintosh computer delivered on the revolutionary promise that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs made during its 1984 debut. The Mac was a pioneer in many ways, including the introduction of the GUI (also known as the 'GUI in tech speak') and the navigational mice. It was in many ways the first realisation of Jobs' vision for computers to become more human.

The IPOD was unveiled in October 2001

The iPod was not the first digital music player, but it changed how people thought of them. Just like Jimi Hendrix did with the guitar. The iPod was stylish and compact. It could initially store up to 1,000 tracks (although this capacity would grow far beyond the 2001 model). The iPod then gave birth to the iTunes story, which provided a way for people to legally buy and download songs at a time when piracy was rampant. Apple's device was a sign that it might become more than just a computer manufacturer.

The IPHONE was unveiled in January 2007.

It is difficult to overstate the impact of the iPhone on the world. It introduced touchscreens when a BlackBerry, the most popular smartphone, still had a keyboard. When Jobs took the all-in one computer, music player, and camera out of his pockets in 2007, it was a revolutionary invention. Apple opened a store a year later that made it common for people to believe there was an app for everything. The BlackBerry became obsolete, and smartphones became indispensable.

The IPAD is unveiled in January 2010

The iPad was a hybrid between a laptop and a smartphone. The iPad provided a faster, more convenient method to check email, browse the internet, and read books compared to a laptop. It also had a larger display than smartphones, which was an advantage as video streaming became more popular. Microsoft was also compelled by the iPad's popularity to add more tablet-like features and touchscreen options for Windows, which powers most laptops and desktops.

The Apple Watch, Unveiled September 2014

Apple Watch was a wearable device with cellular capabilities that allowed you to have something similar to a smartphone at your wrist. The Apple Watch also included some of the apps that people use on their smartphone. Apple began marketing its smartwatch as a fashion accessory, but then shifted its focus when it discovered that the fitness and health tracking tools were what people found most useful.

AEROPODS, UNVEILED IN SEPTEMBER 2016.

AirPods were the first wireless headphones to feature an Apple chip, which provided a more stable and reliable connection with devices. They also made it easier to switch from one device to another. AirPods also served a key purpose for Apple. They quickly quelled the initial outrage over the company's decision in 2016 to remove the headphone socket from iPhones while creating a lucrative sales channel.
