Activision Blizzard was one of Tuesday's biggest winners on the stock exchange after a federal court ruled that Microsoft could close its $75 billion acquisition of the Call of Duty developer.
Microsoft shares fell after the announcement. Activision shares gained around 10%. Dow Jones Market Data said that Activision is on course for its biggest one-day percentage increase since January 2022.
The decision of the judge removes an important hurdle in the United States to the deal. This would combine the Xbox videogaming division of the tech giant with the publisher of popular games such as World of Warcraft or Candy Crush. Both companies still need U.K. approval.
